Implant removal and reshaping, also called auto-augmentation, is a procedure that removes breast implants while reshaping the remaining natural tissue to restore a balanced and natural breast contour. Over time, some patients choose to remove their breast implants due to capsular contracture, rupture, discomfort, or personal preference. The Procedure

​

• Anaesthesia:

  Performed under general anaesthetic for comfort and precision.

• Implant Removal:

  The existing implant is removed through the previous scar. If required, a total or partial capsulectomy is performed to remove the surrounding capsule.

• Reshaping (Auto-Augmentation):

  The remaining breast tissue is internally reshaped and lifted to restore upper-pole fullness and create a natural contour.

  In some cases, the tissue previously stretched by the implant can be folded and anchored internally to mimic the shape of a small implant.

• Nipple Repositioning:

  The nipple–areola complex may be lifted to match the new breast shape and maintain natural proportion.

• Closure:

  The skin is tightened and closed with dissolvable sutures, and the incision is sealed with surgical glue or steri-strips.

• You can shower from the day after surgery; dressings are waterproof.

• Continue wearing your surgical bra day and night for at least two months to support healing.

• Driving is permitted after your first postoperative review, once you are comfortable and off strong pain medication.

• The final shape continues to improve as swelling subsides and tissue softens over several months.
